The Canadian Bar Association – Alberta Branch is excited to invite members of the legal community to a unique field event in partnership with the Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park on the Siksika Nation. Here is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for lawyers to visit the historically significant site of the 1877 signing of Treaty 7 between the Crown of Canada and the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Stoney-Nakoda, and Tsuut’ina First Nations.
A guided tour with interpreter will take us through the Blackfoot Confederacy’s pre-contact way of life, the events leading to Treaty 7, a walkthrough of the historic sites and cultural relics in the beautiful museum, and lead a customized presentation on the modern impact of Treaty 7 on First Nations in Alberta. Following the tour, our hosts have graciously invited us to observe the traditional drum and dance.
Roundtrip transportation from downtown Calgary to Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park, lunch, refreshments, and delicious bannock are included in this full day program. Tickets are $90.00 or only $55.00 with your current CBA membership.
